It’s that time of year again, folks–in less than 24 hours, New York Comic Con returns to the City That Never Sleeps for four whole days of panels, photo-ops, and signings galore. And guess what? We’ll be there to spread the good word of Zenescope all weekend long!
Our resident sales ninja extraordinaire, Jason, and his trusty sidekick Noah are currently down at the Javits Center getting everything ready before the doors open at 10am tomorrow, and the rest of us (especially me) can’t wait to join them there. Believe it or not, this will be my first time (!!!) attending NYCC, and there’s no one I’d rather share the experience with than my brand new Zen Fam. So in that spirit, let’s pull back the curtain and take a closer look at what you can expect to find at our booth (#3445) in the days ahead.
As with previous convention stops, we’re bringing a number of exclusives with us, including new collectible covers featuring the instantly-recognizable work of Drax Gal. Drax’s anime-inspired illustrations have made him a fast favorite among Zenescope die-hards over the past couple of months, and his latest Mystere cover will be available in both standard (LE199) and Z-Rated (LE99) editions. Meanwhile, another Zenescope favorite, Eric Basaldua, is back with a fresh entry in his Brosplay series, which is available in standard (LE250) and Z-Rated (LE100) formats as well.
Additional highlights include a military-themed cover from Meguro (LE225) and new Collectors Club variants from Paul Green. And of course, we’ll be releasing two different packs that combine several of these covers with bonus goodies that won’t be available anywhere else. Buying one of these packs also gets you a free Mystery Envelope, which are likewise available to purchase individually for $30 each. Plus, if you have any books you’re looking to get signed, other top Zenescope artists will be joining us at the booth between Friday and Sunday afternoon. You can view the full schedule below:
The size and scope of NYCC makes it the perfect venue for big reveals, and we’ll have plenty of tea to spill before the convention draws to a close. Chief among these is news about our long-in-the-works Grimm Tales of Terror movie! Join us in Room 1C03 this Friday, October 13th at 8pm as Noah moderates a panel celebrating the 10-year history of our beloved anthology series, with Zenescope co-founders Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco reflecting on the book’s impact alongside Chris Mangano, a producer on the upcoming film adaptation. Together, they’ll also screen footage from the movie’s “Killer Hook” segment, which many of you already got to witness during last week’s VIP-exclusive livestream on Facebook.
But wait! There’s more!! On the comics side of things, we’ll also be announcing a new miniseries launching in early 2024 and co-starring two heroes, one of whom will be making her Zenescope debut in the first issue. Unfortunately, I can’t share more details until the con gets underway…but I can give you a sneak peek at the cover art for issue #1. See if you can guess who the characters are!
Be on the lookout for special promo cards that unveil the identity of this exciting new pairing and, as a token of thanks for your support, include a little something extra that should come in handy the next time you’re browsing our webstore ;)
It goes without saying that this year’s NYCC lineup is stacked, to say the least. But hopefully, if you’re not too busy getting your picture taken with Ewan McGregor or Tom Hiddleston, you'll pay us a visit and see what we have on display. In fact, I’ll even sweeten the deal a bit: if you’re no stranger to collecting Zenescope, stop by and pick up a sticker board for the chance to earn a free LE100 foil variant of Erica Basaldua's convention-exclusive Brosplay cover. We’re also teaming up with our pals at CGC for a new Swag Hunt. Simply follow the instructions on the flyer below and you could win one of 10 Grand Prizes, including a slabbed, numbered, and graded copy of that same Ebas showcase. (Remember, you must ask us for an NYCC Badge and CGC Metro Card upon completing a purchase from our booth in order to participate in the activity.)
For anyone discovering our Grimm Universe for the first time, fret not! Because we have a pretty sweet deal for you, too–subscribe to our mailing list at the event and you’ll automatically be entered to win your very own Nintendo Switch! The winner will be selected at random after the convention wraps up on Sunday, so keep an eye on your inboxes for that announcement.
Safe travels, friends. We look forward to seeing you in the Big Apple this week!
–Jake
I think I may have found a rare 1/3 card email please for details.
That eBas Brosplay is hot! I love when Sabine Rich colors his art.
